Marc Stern

An automotive enthusiast, Marc Stern began his love affair with cars as a little boy when he attended his first Boston Auto Show. Marc’s affair deepened to the point where he could call out the names, makes, and models just by looking at the vehicle. A newspaper editor by trade, his boss saw Marc’s penchant for cars and made him the Auto Editor of the newspaper where worked. He began auto writing in 1970 and authored a weekly newspaper column on cars for 32 years.

He has driven and evaluated more than 2,000 cars for his column in his former newspaper under his own column name, You Auto Know. He has written for newspapers in New England and across the country including Portland Press Herald, New York Times, South Shore Business, The Tab Newspapers, Gatehouse Media (1,500 or so newspapers).

When it comes to online, he has written for Popular Mechanics, The Car Connection, Mechanix Illustrated, Popular Science, Popular Electronics, Your Mechanic, AutoWeek (contributing editor), Automotive News (correspondent -- New England, mechanical), Automotive Age, Trailer Life, Scholastic Press (Q&A), Pickup, Van& Off-Road World, SuperStock, Kruse Report (rotogravure lifestyle), Old Cars Weekly (N.E. correspondent), Special Interest Autos, among others.
