Benjamin E Jerew

Benjamin Jerew has been around engines and tools and cars since the mid-1980s, eventually moving from DIY auto repair to professional auto repair in 1999.

In 2001, he graduated top of his class from Columbia-Greene Community College, Hudson, NY, with an Associate’s in Applied Sciences (AAS) degree in Automotive Technology in the T-TEN Toyota Technical Education Network, as well as multiple mentions on the Dean’s List and President’s List.

Since then, as an ASE Certified Master Automobile Technician, Benjamin’s mainly worked with Lexus and Toyota vehicles.

Early in his career, he worked at Toyota/Hyundai and Dodge/Mitsubishi dealerships. Then, after a small introduction to Lexus at an independent specialty shop, covering Toyota/Lexus/Mazda/Volvo/Honda/Acura, he found his calling at a Lexus dealership service center in Upstate New York. Later, moving to New Jersey, he continued with Lexus, then moving to a Toyota dealership closer to home.

Since 2012, taking a break from the shop environment, Ben’s been writing online for automotive companies around the world, from auto repair shops and custom shops to auto parts retailers and car enthusiast sites.

He’s a regular contributor to the NAPA Know How Blog and ThoughtCo Car . Today, Ben’s still writing about cars, car maintenance, car repair, and other automotive topics, like clean fuels, autonomous vehicles, transportation legislation, and more. His other projects include installing aftermarket anti-collision radar and camera systems for Safe Drive Systems, and maintaining and repairing his own and family and friends’ cars.
